PUTRAJAYA, January 14 – Azman Adam, Deputy Director (Prevention) of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), has been appointed the ministry’s new Director of Enforcement, effective January 5.

His appointment was announced today by Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Nanta said he and ministry staff gave Azman their full support and confidence to take on the new responsibility and position.

“I am confident that he will continue to support the mission and vision of the ministry in a state of full readiness, and efforts to monitor compliance with the law among traders, and is keen to protect the interests of consumers,” said he declared.

Azman, 50, from Terengganu, has extensive law enforcement experience and held various responsibilities in several states, most notably as chief law enforcement officer in Selangor before serving in the Putrajaya headquarters as deputy director (Prevention).

During his service, Azman was awarded the Mayban Finance Berhad High Performance Award in 1992 and he was also named the recipient of the KPDNHEP Outstanding Service Awards five times, in 1998, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. – Bernama
