Azman Mohd Yusof is the new Secretary General of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs

PUTRAJAYA: The Secretary of State of Perlis, Azman Mohd Yusof, has been appointed as the new Secretary General of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs effective tomorrow Wednesday, March 30.

Azman, 56, replaces Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad, who was appointed Perlis’s secretary of state, which will also take effect tomorrow.

The case was announced by Chief Cabinet Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali in a statement issued on Tuesday March 29.

“I am confident that with his experience, knowledge and credibility, Azman is able to lead the administration of the ministry in achieving its aspiration to become a nationally leading ministry guided by the vision of ‘trade progressive and sustainable interior,” said Mohd Zuki.

Azman, who joined the civil service as an administrative and diplomatic officer on December 1, 1992, has extensive experience in the areas of planning, human resource management and policy development.

A graduate of a master’s degree in public administration from Saitama University, Japan, Azman also served as director of the Organizational Development Division of the Department of Civil Service.

Meanwhile, Mohd Zuki said Hasnol Zam Zam, 55, was appointed to the post based on his qualifications and vast experience in various fields, including when he served as the ministry’s secretary general.

“I have full confidence in Hasnol Zam Zam to lead the Perlis Secretary of State Administration and carry out his duties with integrity,” he said.

Hasnol Zam Zam, who holds a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Pennsylvania, served in public service for 30 years after joining as a PTD officer on Dec. 1, 1992. – Bernama
