Its minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the 11 items are live chicken, standard chicken, super, imported mutton; Category A, B and C chicken egg; red pepper, tomato; coconut and grated coconut.

“The price of these items is controlled to stabilize their price and supply,” he said during the Deepavali SHMMP 2021 virtual launch today.

He said the maximum item price schedule is applicable in 91 districts of Peninsular Malaysia, 27 districts of Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan.

For Sarawak, the implementation of the program concerned only four districts, namely Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu, he added.

Meanwhile, Nanta said the ministry will work with the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry to ensure an adequate supply of goods and that the price remains reasonable during the holiday season.

Enforcement officers from the ministry will also be in stores such as markets, farmers’ markets and supermarkets to carry out inspections and checks, he added. – Bernama
