Slovakia’s trade balance goes into deficit

Slovakia’s trade balance recorded a deficit of 258.7 million euros in February compared to a surplus of 496.4 million euros in the same month last year, according to the statistics agency.

In January, the trade deficit was 335.8 million euros.

Export growth rose to 11.1% year-on-year in February and imports rose 23.2% for the thirteenth consecutive month.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the trade surplus amounted to 475.1 million euros in February.

Exports and imports increased by 10% and 22% respectively.
