Ukraine-Turkey trade balance exceeds pre-pandemic level


The trade balance between Ukraine and Turkey has exceeded the level before the pandemic.

“At today’s meeting, we discussed all aspects of our bilateral relations and regional issues. Dmytro and I have signed a consultation plan that will relaunch our work aimed at developing bilateral relations and regional issues. This year our trade balance has passed the pre-pandemic level, ”Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt ÇavuÅŸoÄŸlu said at a briefing following talks with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Lviv on October 7, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The Minister informed that a meeting of the Ukraine-Turkey Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation is scheduled for the near future.

In his speech, the Turkish Foreign Minister praised the relations between the two countries and thanked the Ukrainian government for extinguishing the fires in Antalya and neighboring provinces.

“We will never forget this demonstration of solidarity,” he said.

Çavuşoğlu also informed that the parties have addressed consular matters due to the increase in personal contacts of citizens of the two countries in business, investment and tourism.

The Turkish Foreign Minister assured that the two countries will make joint efforts to ensure respect for the rights of the Crimean Tatars in sovereign Ukraine. “And we will work on a housing construction project for Crimean Tatars and we hope to start construction this year,” Çavuşoğlu said.

In addition, the senior Turkish diplomat invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Minister Kuleba to participate in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum scheduled for March.

As reported, the 9th meeting of the Ukraine-Turkey Joint Strategic Planning Group took place in Lviv, in which Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu participated at the invitation of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
