Vaccination program for retail sector to start next month, Minister of Internal Trade says



PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Retail Covid-19 vaccination program involving around 500,000 workers will start next month, according to Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi (Photo).

The Minister of Home Trade and Consumer Affairs said his ministry, which has been tasked with planning and coordinating the retail sector vaccination program with all relevant industry players, will implement it with the cooperation of the Working Group on Vaccination against Covid-19 (CITF).

“Given the situation of Covid-19 in the country, there is a need to speed up the administration of vaccines to the front lines of the economy, especially to workers in the retail sector, to achieve collective immunity in the country. “, he said in a statement Friday (May 28).

According to Nanta, a meeting with the CITF, associations and retail players was held on Friday, involving around 60 players in the retail sector.

Nanta said the ministry will also work with the Complex Management Association of Malaysia, the Malaysia Retailers Association and the Malaysia Retail Chain Association to set up vaccination centers in strategic locations across the country. – Bernama
